Welcome to Milwaukee, the main cultural and economic center of Wisconsin's Milwaukee-Racine-Waukesha metropolitan area. You may know it as one of the brewing capitals of the world, but in the past decade, it has developed its cultural scene with additions like the Milwaukee Riverwalk, Miller Park (an internationally renowned addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum), and Pier Wisconsin.
Milwaukee's compact downtown is split north to south by the Milwaukee River. Here you will find the Charles Allis Art Museum, the spectacular Milwaukee Art Museum and the Discovery World Museum of Science, Economics and Technology, which features more than 140 exhibits. Catch a game at the Bradley Center, home to the Milwaukee Admirals and Bucks, or take a guided tour of the Pabst Brewing Company.
Listed as Milwaukee's first National Historic District and considered the city's oldest neighborhood, Walker's Point is made up of historic homes, art galleries and ethnic restaurants -- not surprising, considering its vibrant Latino community. In this district you'll find one of Milwaukee's most famous landmarks, the Allen-Bradley building, which sports the largest four-sided clock in the world.

Don't leave Milwaukee without trying the Friday Fish Fry. A Midwestern tradition year-round, it's what's for dinner on Friday nights. Your standard meal will include beer-battered cod, cole slaw, rye bread, and French fries, or, if you're lucky, potato pancakes. You'll get a choice of fish and preparations, be it walleye, blue-gill, lake-perch, fried, baked, or broiled. You can also get shrimp at some locations. One popular spot is Lakefront Brewery, with family-style dining and a great polka band.
