Neighborhoods in Minneapolis

Riverfront District

Considered the "birthplace of Minneapolis," the historic Riverfront District offers all of the essential urban amenities -- dining, shopping, cultural venues -- in a beautiful, tree-lined setting along the Mississippi River. Learn about local history at the Mill City Museum, enjoy a leisurely stroll in Gateway Park and see beloved city landmarks like St. Anthony Falls and the Stone Arch Bridge.

Loring Park

Located on the southern edge of downtown near the Minneapolis Convention Center, the Loring Park area is one of the most lively and eclectic neighborhoods in Minnesota. The Walker Art Center, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and the Guthrie Theater satisfy cultural cravings, while the outstanding selection of fine restaurants appeals to more basic hungers.

Downtown St. Paul

Minneapolis' more understated twin across the river bestows just as many delights as its noisier sibling. Have a picnic in Harriet Island Regional Park, see amazing exhibits at the Science Museum and the History Center and view architectural sites like the Cathedral of St. Paul and Landmark Center. Don't forget to see Landmark Plaza's bronze Peanuts statues, in honor of native son Charles Schulz.

Minneapolis Travel Tip

The weather, in a word: invigorating. Minneapolis is one of the coldest cities in the US, with "a chance of snow" threatening from November through April. But don't worry about traveling to the Twin Cities in the winter! Downtown is crisscrossed with miles of climate-controlled skyway systems. If you're hoping for sun, summers average 94 degrees and can be somewhat humid.
